Coogans Bluff is a rock band founded in Rostock in 2003 . She plays a varied mixture of soul , herb and progressive rock . The band was named after the film of the same name, Coogan's Big Bluff .

history

Coogans Bluff was founded by the brothers Charlie Paschen and Willi Paschen as well as Clemens Marasus and Thilo Streubel. In the first few years the guys played a mixture of stoner rock and punk , released some EPs on their own ( Teach Me Tiger 2003, Flex till Death 2004) and played several shows all over Germany. In 2006 the band released the EP Fisch on the Italian label Morgana Records.

In 2007 her first long-playing record, CB Funk , was released on the Third Choice Records label . CB Funk is characterized above all by the alternation of long psychedelic songs and short crisp numbers. The band achieved greater national attention for the first time in 2007 and played their first Northern Europe tour with the Berlin band Rotor.

In 2011 the album Magic Bubbles was released by World in Sound Records. At this point the band members moved to Berlin and Leipzig .

The 2012 album Poncho Express , released on the Berlin label Noisolution , shows more influences from fusion and jazz rock as well as funk and soul . This is mainly due to Max Thum (saxophone) and Stefan Meinking (trombone), who at this time became permanent members of Coogan's Bluff. Clemens Marasus also took over the vocals on an album for the first time. A video was released for the song Beefheart .

In 2013 Thilo Streubel left the band. The following year Coogan's Bluff released the fourth album Gettin 'Dizzy and went on an extensive European tour.

For 2016 the band announced a new album. Flying To The Stars was released on May 27, 2016 by Noisolution. The subsequent European tour for the album was completely recorded. Some recordings from this tour were released on the band's first official live album, Bluff Live, on November 17th, 2017.

In January 2020, the band's sixth studio album, Metronopolis, was released, which was positively received by music critics. So awarded the Visions 10 of 12 points and described it as "an album like an interplanetary hidden object".
