The Corace ( Crotalus in ancient times ) is a river in Calabria ( Italy ).
The river rises at 1050 m above sea level on Monte Brutto in the province of Cosenza , flows through Bianchi and enters the province of Catanzaro at the Ponte di Castagna (near the ruins of the Corazzo monastery ) . At the Serrastretta-Carlópoli railway station, it comes within less than a kilometer of the Amato river , which drains into the Gulf of S. Eufémia in the Tyrrhenian Sea . Part of the railway line Cosenza - Catanzaro runs in its valley, which runs from northwest to southeast. At Gimigliano , the river turns in the south-south-east direction, which it maintains until its confluence with the Ionian Sea (Gulf of Squillace ) between Roccelletta and Catanzaro Marina.
