Corinne Cahen (born May 16, 1973 in Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourg politician ( Democratic Party ) and entrepreneur. Since December 4, 2013, she has been Minister for Family and Integration and Minister for the Greater Region. Since 2015 she has also been party president of the Democratic Party.

Personal

Corinne Cahen is Jewish and together with her non-Jewish husband she gives her children a Judeo-Christian upbringing. She took over a shoe shop in the capital from her parents and now has three in the city. As a teenager, Corinne Cahen was the first woman to be President of the Jeunesse Israélienne du Luxembourg (Israeli youth of Luxembourg).

Education and training

After attending the Athénée de Luxembourg high school , Corinne Cahen studied at the University of Strasbourg from 1992 to 1995 , where she obtained a license in applied foreign languages ​​(specialist translation). She then studied from 1995 to 1996 at the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis . Here she obtained a Maîtrise (Master) in applied foreign languages, specializing in economics and trade. In 1997 she completed her higher education with a DESS in bilingual journalism (French / English) at the University of Paris III .

Political offices

In the early parliamentary elections on October 20, 2013 , Corinne Cahen was elected to the Chamber of Deputies .

On December 4, 2013, she became a member of the government for the first time and joined the coalition government of the Democratic Party (DP), Lëtzebuerger Sozialistesch Aarbechterpartei (LSAP) and déi Gréng , the Bettel-Schneider government, as Minister for Family and Integration and as Minister for the Greater Region .

On November 28, 2015, she was elected President of the Democratic Party.

Professional Activities

Corinne Cahen already gained professional journalistic experience during her studies, especially at RTL Hei Elei Kuck Elei (now RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg ), Eldoradio , the regional radio station Nice-Côte d'Azur, Radio France Internationale and Agence France-Presse . From 1995 to 2001 she worked for RTL Radio Lëtzebuerg . First she worked as a France correspondent in the fields of politics, economics, law and sport and then as a moderator and reporter in the fields of politics, economics and law in Luxembourg. From 2001 to 2004 she worked as a freelance journalist for RTL Radio and Télé Lëtzebuerg.

Corinne Cahen was the managing director of a shoe store in Luxembourg City from 2001 to 2013. From 2008 to 2012 she was President of the Business Association of Luxembourg City and from 2009 to 2013 an elected member of the Chamber of Commerce (Chambre de Commerce de Luxembourg).
