The Bettel-Schneider government , or alternatively the Bettel I government , was sworn in on December 4, 2013. It was formed after the chamber election in 2013 . In this election, the CSV was again the strongest party with Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker . The liberal DP , the social democratic LSAP and the Luxembourg Greens formed a coalition government. For the first time since 1979, the CSV was no longer involved in a government. The early election became necessary because the LSAP had previously withdrawn its trust in the government because of a secret service affair in which Jean-Claude Juncker was involved. Xavier Bettel (DP) became the new Prime Minister and Etienne Schneider (LSAP) became Vice Prime Minister. State Secretary André Bauler (DP) announced his resignation on March 19, 2014 due to illness. Marc Hansen (DP) took over the office on March 28th . On December 16, 2015, Maggy Nagel resigned as minister after persistent criticism. The Ministry of Culture was taken over by Xavier Bettel, he is supported by State Secretary Guy Arendt (DP). Hansen also became Minister for Housing and Minister Delegate for Universities and Research. On June 20, 2018, the former MEP Claude Turmes became the new State Secretary in the Ministry of Sustainability, where he replaced the recently deceased Camille Gira . The cabinet resigned on October 15, 2018, the day after the next chamber election , but remained in office until the new government was sworn in on December 5, 2018.
