Cornel Durau

Cornel Durău (born January 30, 1957 in Bechet ) is a former Romanian handball player .

He started playing handball in Braşov in 1972 , moved to Universitatea Bucharest in 1975 and a year later to Dinamo Bucharest . With Dinamo Durau was two Romanian champions. In 1988 Durău went to Hidrotehnica Constanța. After the Romanian Revolution he played in Spain for the CB Torrevieja and finally for the German second division club TSB Heilbronn-Horkheim .

For the Romanian national team Durău played 207 international matches in which he scored 435 goals. At both the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow and the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, he won the bronze medal with Romania. At the 1978 World Cup he was seventh with the Romanian team and fifth at the 1982 World Cup . At the 1990 World Cup , Durau was able to win a bronze medal again with Romania.
