Cornelia von Kerssenbrock (born June 23, 1970 in Munich ) is a German conductor and church musician .

Life

Cornelia von Kerssenbrock was born in 1970 in Munich as the daughter of the organ builder Hubertus von Kerssenbrock and a potter. After visiting a musical grammar school she studied from 1989 to 1996 Catholic church music at Albert Anglberger , Hans-Joachim Rotzsch and Franz Comploj at the Academy of Music Mozarteum Salzburg (A- and B-diploma) and 1997-1999 conducting with Peter Gülke to from the Musikhochschule Freiburg im Breisgau (state examination). At the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena / Italy she attended the conducting master class of Gianluigi Gelmetti in 1999/2000 . In addition, she took part in master classes worldwide. a. with Paul Goodwin , Mariusz Smolij , Kirk Trevor , Christian Kluttig , Romely Pfund , Wolf-Dieter Hauschild and Jorma Panula . She also trained with the a cappella ensemble The King's Singers .

From the 1990s on, she led various Munich and Freiburg choirs. From 1993 to 1996 she taught at the Grünwald Music School . From 1996 to 1999 she worked as a church musician in Starnberg .

She has been a freelance conductor since 1999, cultivating the classical-romantic repertoire and placing an emphasis on historical performance practice . Concert tours have taken her through Europe and Asia. She had several productions at the city theaters in Passau and Biel / Solothurn (Switzerland). As a guest conductor she led a. a. the NDR Radiophilharmonie , the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Halle , the Staatsorchester Kassel , the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Mainz , the Symphoniker Hamburg , the Münchner Symphoniker , the Georgische Kammerorchester Ingolstadt and the Landesjugendorchester Berlin as well as the baroque orchestra La Beata Olanda - Ensemble for early music.

Von Kerssenbrock is the musical director of the opera festival in Chiemgau Gut Immling. She performed operas by u. a. Mozart, Wagner and Verdi. She also carried out experimental electronic projects there.

She is married to the opera singer and artistic director Ludwig Baumann (* 1950).
