Corpaputo Centro ( also Corcaputo Centro ) is a town in the La Paz Department on the Altiplano of the South American Andes Mountains in Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Corpaputo is the central location of the canton Villa Asuncion de Corpaputo in the municipality of Achacachi in the province of Omasuyos . The village is located at an altitude of 4045  m on the right, northern bank of the Río Chlar Jokha, which flows from the Laguna Jistina Khota in a westerly direction into the Río Kjarkajahuira, which flows through Achacachi and flows into the Gulf of Achacachi.

The climate in the Corpaputo area is derived from the altitude on the Altiplano and the proximity to the large body of water of Lake Titicaca, which mitigates temperature fluctuations.

The annual average temperature is 11 ° C (see Achacachi climate diagram), with the monthly average in the coldest month (July) at 8 ° C only slightly deviating from the warmest months (November to March) at 12 ° C. Transport network

The village is located 114 kilometers by road northwest of La Paz , the capital of the department.

From La Paz, the asphalt national road Ruta 2 leads west to El Alto and further north-west via Vilaque and Palcoco to Batallas . From here the route 2 continues to Copacabana on Lake Titicaca, at Huarina the route 16 branches off to the north, which leads to Achacachi and further along the Peruvian border into the Bolivian lowlands. On the northern edge of Achacachi, the Camino Achacachi-Chachacomani branches off from Ruta 16 to the southeast and reaches Avichaca after six kilometers . The road then reaches Carpaputo Centro after twelve kilometers via Casamaya .
