Corryocactus huincoensis is a species of plant in the genus Corryocactus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet huincoensis refers to the occurrence of the species near the Peruvian town of Huinco .

description

Corryocactus huincoensis grows as a shrub with semi-upright to pendulous and spreading, dark green shoots that are 1 to 1.5 meters in length and 1 to 2.5 centimeters in diameter. There are eight to twelve ribs that are notched on the back. The fine, needle-like, whitish to reddish brown or black thorns cannot be divided into central and radial spines. They are up to 2 inches long.

The flowers are yellow. The green, thorny fruits reach a diameter of up to 1.5 centimeters.

Distribution and systematics

Corryocactus huincoensis is common in the Peruvian region of Lima in the valley of the Río Santa Eulalia and near Matucana .

It was first described in 1981 by Friedrich Ritter . A synonym is Corryocactus matucanensis F. Ritter (1981).
