Cota Cota Baja ( also Kkota Kkota Baja ) is a town in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Cota Cota Baja is the third largest town in the canton of Huarina in the municipality of Huarina in the province of Omasuyos . The village is located at an altitude of 3837 m, three kilometers from the coast of Wiñaymarka qucha , the southern section of Lake Titicaca . Almost a kilometer north of the village rises at 4004 m height of Cerro Sopacachi, from which a ridge stretches in a south-easterly direction to the banks of the Wiñaymarka.
geography
Cota Cota Baja is located on the Bolivian Altiplano in the basin of Lake Titicaca, between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east. The climate in the region is derived from the altitude on the Altiplano and the proximity to the large water surface of Lake Titicaca, which mitigates the temperature fluctuations. Due to the altitude and low cloud cover for large parts of the year, the region has a typical time-of-day climate in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than during the course of the seasons.
The annual average temperature is 11 ° C (see climate diagram Achacachi), with the monthly average in the coldest month (July) at 8 ° C only slightly deviating from the warmest month (November to March) at 12 ° C. The climate is arid from June to August with only sporadic rainfall, and it is humid in the summer months, especially from December to March, with monthly rainfall of more than 100 mm. The annual precipitation is around 600 mm.
Transport network
Cota Cota Baja is located 73 kilometers by road northwest of La Paz , the capital of the department of the same name.
From La Paz the national road Ruta 2 leads via El Alto in a north-westerly direction to Huarina and from there on to Copacabana and Khasani , from Huarina the Ruta 16 leads north to Achacachi .
On the northern edge of Huarina, a country road branches off from Ruta 16 in a north-westerly direction and leads past the 'Centro De Alto Rendimiento' (high-performance center Huarina) to Cota Cota Baja and on towards Tola Tola and Carmen Lipe .
