Countdown is the first Japanese studio album by the Korean-Chinese boy band Exo . It was released digitally on January 31, 2018 via Avex Trax. There are 9 pieces of music on the album, five of which were previously released and four new songs specially recorded for the album. It's Exo's second album that Lay isn't on.

At the beginning of November 2017, SM Entertainment announced that Exo would release their first Japanese studio album in January. In early December, the music video for Electric Kiss , the only single on the album, was released. The album was postponed from January 24th to January 31st. It was announced that Lay is not on the album because he was in the People's Republic of China at the time of album production , working on his solo projects. It is the second album after The War that he is not on.
