Park Chan-Yeol (born November 27, 1992 in Seoul ) is a South Korean actor , rapper and singer with the band EXO . He can play the piano, guitar, as well as electric guitar and drums. In 2016 he starred in the film So I Married an Anti-fan .

Early years of life

Park Chanyeol was born in Seoul, South Korea. He attended Hyundai High School in Apgujeong-dong, Seoul. He has a sister named Park Yoo-ra, who is currently an announcer at the South Korean radio station YTN, and previously with MBC.

After watching the film School of Rock in his childhood, Chanyeol became interested in music and he started playing the drums . When he was a student in middle school, he formed a band called "Heavy Noise" with his best friends and played with them for about three years. During his first years of high school he was involved as a guitarist in the school band "Siren".

Chanyeol cites Jason Mraz and Eminem as his greatest influences, despite being a fan of rock bands like Muse , Green Day , Nirvana, and X-Japan .

Chanyeol became a trainee under SM Entertainment after finishing second in the 2008 Smart Model Contest. Prior to his debut, Chanyeol appeared in Girls Generation's TVXQ music videos "HaHaHa Song" (2008) and "Genie" (2010) .

Career

Chanyeol was the last Exo member to be officially launched on February 23, 2012. EXO debuted on April 8, 2012 with the single Mama. In April 2012, he made a guest appearance on Girls' Generation-TTS's music video for their debut single "Twinkle". In October 2013, he joined SBS's reality TV show Law of the Jungle , which was filmed in Micronesia. He composed and set up an original soundtrack for the show entitled "Last Hunter".

In 2014, Chanyeol wrote the rap for the Korean version of the track "Run" from Exo's second album, Overdose, and featured on the labels of Henry and Zhou Mi's debut albums. In May 2014, he became a regular performer on the first season of SBS's reality television show Roommate . He left the show in September 2014 due to conflict plans.

In November 2015, Chanyeol appeared in the finale of the survival show Unpretty Rapstar , where he presented the song Dont make money with Heize .

In April 2015, Chanyeol starred in the South Korean film Salut d'Amour ; the leading roles were played by Park Geun-hyung and Youn Yuh-jung. He later starred as the male lead alongside actress Moon Ga-Young and the Exo members on the web drama Exo Next Door. In June 2015, Chanyeol co-wrote the Korean version of Love Me Right's "Promise" track with Exo members Chen and Lay, the newly released version of Exo's second studio album. He later wrote the rap for "Lightsaber", Exo's promotional single for Star Wars: The Force Awakens , this song was the official Korean soundtrack.

In June 2016, Chanyeol starred alongside Yuan Shanshan and label buddy Seohyun in the South Korean-Chinese film "How I Married an Anti-Fan". He and Yuan Shanshan also recorded a duet called "I Hate You" as the theme song for the film.

In October 2016, Chanyeol worked with American R&B singer Tinashe , American hip-hop group Far East Movement and American musician Marshmellos on the single "Freal Luv".
