Counterparts is the title of the 15th studio album that the Canadian rock band Rush released in October 1993 .

With Counterparts significantly returning to a gitarrenlastigeren sound that already with the album shows Presto has begun. Although synthesizers are used in most of the songs, they are nowhere near as strong as on albums like Power Windows or Hold Your Fire .

As far as the songs are concerned, Rush are on the one hand based on their predecessors Presto and Roll the Bones , but sometimes they also take a new direction. The song Stick It Out had an unusual heaviness for Rush up to this point. With Nobody's Hero there is another ballad that is based on The Pass (Presto) and Bravado (Roll The Bones) in style. Leave that Thing alone is an instrumental piece.
