Cove is a small town in a sparsely populated region of the Scottish Unitary Authority Argyll and Bute . It is located about seven kilometers northwest of Greenock and west of Helensburgh on the Rosneath Peninsula . The village stretches along the coast of the arm of the sea, Loch Long, and is partly located on the secondary bay of Cove Bay . Together with Kilcreggan to the southeast, 876 people lived in Cove in 1961. By 2001 this number had increased to 1,414.
Cove is connected to the road network by the B833 which runs largely along the coast of Rosneath . In the village there are two monuments of the highest Scottish monument category A, the country house Knockderry Castle and the Villa Craig Ailey .
