Dei Castle Ermengerst is an Outbound hilltop castle on 850 m above sea level. NN about 850 meters south-southeast of the church in the Ermengerst district “am Hohen Egg” in the Wiggensbach community in the Oberallgäu district ( Bavaria ).
In 1037 the "Ermengerster Castle" was first mentioned as the seat of a ministerial family of the Kempten Abbey. The castle is also said to have been the seat of the Ermengerster Marshals . In 1288 a "Knight of Ermengerst" was named with the capture of the Iberg Fortress.
No remains of the former castle complex have survived.
