Covina is a city in Los Angeles County in the US state of California , United States , with 48,400 inhabitants (as of 2004 ). The urban area has a size of 18.1 km².
The city was founded in 1882 by Joseph Swift Phillips . In 1909 Covina was the third largest orange producer in the world.
From 1942 to 1951 the headquarters of the Theosophical Society in America , then also called "Theosophical Society Covina", was located here .
