Craig John Monk (born May 23, 1967 in Stratford ) is a former New Zealand sailor .
successes
Craig Monk, who sailed for the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron , took part in the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 and in Atlanta in 1996 in the Finn-Dinghy boat class . In 1992 he won two of the total of seven races and finished the regatta with 64.7 points in third place behind José van der Ploeg and Brian Ledbetter , so that he won the bronze medal. Four years later he finished the regatta with 86 points in 13th place. At the 2009 World Championships in Varberg, he and Hamish Pepper won the bronze medal in the Star boat class .
From 1995 Monk was a sought-after crew member in the America's Cup . He was part of the victorious New Zealand team in both 1995 and 2000, and in the following years he was part of the crew of various other boats such as BMW Oracle Racing .
