Craig Russell (Author)
Craig Russell (* 1956 in County Fife , Scotland ) is a British writer best known for his thriller crime novels.
Life
Craig Russell was a cop, copywriter, and creative director prior to writing.
In 2005 Russell published his first crime novel Blutadler , in which the protagonist is a Hamburg detective chief named Jan Fabel. The series of fable novels came about because Russell says he has long had an interest in the German language, culture and people. He speaks fluent German and has traveled extensively in northern Germany.
After Blutadler , four more fable novels were published by 2010 in English - by Verlag Hutchinson (Random House) - and in German translation by Ehrenwirth (Lübbe). The series was turned into audio books, read in the German version by David Nathan . On October 30, 2010, the first broadcast of the thriller Wolfsfährte based on the second fable of the same name took place on ARD . The German production company Tivoli Film, run by Austrian producers Thomas Hroch and Gerald Podgornig , is also producing four other film adaptations for ARD .
In addition to the fable novel series, Russell began a second series of novels with the Lennox novels, which he set in the Glasgow underworld in the 1950s . This series has been published since 2009. In 2014 he published the novel Biblical under the pseudonym Christopher Galt . In the paperback version published in 2015, it was given the title The Third Testament , with Russel also being named as the author on the title.
Russell lives in Perthshire with his wife and two children . His hobbies include painting, cooking and traveling.
Awards
In 2007, Russell was nominated for the UK Crime Writers' Association (CWA) Golden Dagger Award , the largest award for crime novelists. Also in 2007 Russell was nominated for the French crime crime prize SNCF Prix Polar. Furthermore, in February 2007 he was currently (2016) the only foreigner to be awarded this award, honored with the prestigious Police Master of the Hamburg Police. Said award is given to people who have made a contribution to the presentation of the Hamburg police and their issues in public.
In 2008 he won the CWA's Dagger in the Library for the most loaned living crime writer in public libraries.
