The Credit River is a 35 km long tributary of the Minnesota River in the south of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area in Minnesota in the United States .

About the Minnesota River it is part of the catchment area of the Mississippi River and drains an area of ​​120 km² in a semi-urban area. The river runs its entire length east of Scott County ; its tributaries also drain part of western Dakota County .

The Credit River has its origin in a small lake in the town of Elko New Market in the southeast of Scott County and always flows north through the townships New Market Township and Credit River , as well as the town of Savage . South of it it flows into the Minnesota River, about 22 km south-southwest of central Minneapolis .

In 2004, the Minnesota state government classified the water quality of the Credit River as "affected by turbidity".
