Cris Cab (born January 21, 1993 in Miami , Florida ; real name Cristian Cabrerizo ) is an American singer-songwriter of Cuban descent who achieved great fame through his hit Liar Liar . Cris Cab's sound is a mixture of pop , reggae and soul .

Career

Cris Cab, whose parents are from Cuba, was born in Miami. He got his first guitar when he was five and when he was 14 his father booked his first studio session for him. A chance encounter enabled him to play Pharrell Williams' first own demo recordings . After that, it took another three years to develop musically enough, but then it was Williams again who helped him get started in the music business.

In 2011, Cab signed a management deal and then released a series of videos that got some attention. His cover version of Wiz Khalifa's Black and Yellow had over 100,000 views on YouTube after seven days. In the same year his first EP was released with the title Foreword , which also included his debut single Good Girls . This in turn brought him the acquaintance of Wyclef Jean , who then also supported him. Wyclef Jean and Pharrell Williams were also featured on his mixtape Echo Boom , released in 2012 .

This was followed by the signing of a contract with Mercury Records and a new release of Good Girls (Don't Grow on Trees) with the participation of Big Sean . The song was unsuccessful, but the accompanying EP Rise brought it to number 34 on the US Heatseekers charts. With the next EP, Red Road , he reached number 3 in the US reggae charts the following year.

The breakthrough for Cris Cab came at the end of 2013 in Europe. With the support of Pharrell Williams , who himself had his breakthrough as a musician that year, he released the single Liar Liar . This was able to place itself in the charts in many countries on the continent and reached the top ten in Germany and Austria, among others.

His debut album Where I Belong was released on April 4, 2014 in Germany.
