Cristian Gheorghe (born September 10, 1956 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian football player . He played a total of 324 games in the Divizia A . In 1979, the goalkeeper won the Romanian championship with FC Argeş Piteşti .

Career

Gheorghe's career began in the youth of Autobuzul Bucharest . In 1972 he moved to FC Argeş Piteşti , where he made his debut in Divizia A on October 20, 1974 . Starting with the 1975/76 season , he was used more often and won his first title with the championship in 1979 . He and his team were not able to establish themselves permanently at the top of Divizia A in the following period. For years he remained the main force in the goal of FC Arges.

In the summer of 1986 he left Pitesti to Sportul Studențesc in Bucharest. Two years later he moved to Gloria Bistrita in the Divizia B . After promotion in 1990 , he only came to one assignment in the House of Lords before ending his career.

National team

Gheorghe played 14 games for the Romanian national team . He made his debut on April 16, 1977 in the qualifier for the 1978 World Cup against Spain , which was won 1-0. Alternating with Dumitru Moraru , he came on October 26, 1977 in the second leg against the Spaniards for his last time for the time being.

After a break of almost two years, Gheorghe returned in the friendly against Poland on August 29, 1979 between the posts. By the end of the year, he guarded the goal in four games in a row. After the missed qualification for the European Championship in 1980 he was no longer used by the new national coach Constantin Cernăianu , who preferred Vasile Iordache . On April 15, 1981 he came under Valentin Stănescu against Denmark for his next use. In the fall of 1981 he became number one again in goal. In the 1: 2 defeat against Switzerland on October 10, 1981, which meant missing the qualification for the 1982 World Cup , he played his last international match.
