The Divizia B 1989/90 was the 50th season of the second highest Romanian football league . FCM Progresul Braila , Rapid Bucharest and Gloria Bistrita rose in the Divizia A on.

mode

The Divizia B was held in three seasons with 18 teams each. The three winners were promoted to Divizia A. The last three clubs in each group were relegated directly to Divizia C. Another relegation was determined among the three fourth from bottom in a relegation. This was necessary because after the fall of the communist government of Romania around the turn of the year 1989/90, the two clubs from Divizia A FC Olt Scorniceşti from the hometown of Nicolae Ceauşescu and AS Victoria Bucharest were excluded as a football club by the Bucharest police due to rule violations in recent years had been. There was therefore only one athletic relegation from Divizian A after this season.

There were two points for a win, one point for a draw and no point for a loss. If two or more teams were tied at the end of the season, the direct comparison decided that season .
