The Divizia A 1992/93 was the 53rd season of the second highest Romanian football league and the first of the Divizia A as only the second highest football league. Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț and UTA Arad rose to the Divizia Națională .

Participants were the teams in the last season the places occupied two to twelve, and the three relegated from the Divizia A . The league was only played in two seasons with 18 teams each. The two winners rose to the Divizia Națională. The two bottom of the table were relegated to the third-class Divizia B. There were two points for a win, one point for a draw and no point for a loss. If two or more teams were tied at the end of the season, the goal difference decided first .
