The Divizia B 1948/49 was the tenth season of the second highest Romanian football league . CFR Sibiu as the winner of Season 1 and Metalochimic Resita second in the Season 2 increased in the Divizia A on.

The Divizia B was held in two seasons with 14 teams each. The winners of the two groups got into the Divizia A on. Reserve teams from first division clubs were not eligible for promotion. The last five clubs were relegated. There were two points for a win, one point for a draw and no point for a loss. In the event of a tie at the end of the season, the direct comparison first decided .
