history

Tractorul Brașov was founded in 1927 as a sports club of the Romanian aviation company Întreprinderea Aeronautică Română under the name IAR Brașov . In the early years, the club was overshadowed by local rivals Colțea and Brașovia , so that the club was not involved in the founding of Divizia A in 1932 . It was not until 1935 that IAR rose to the newly founded Divizia B and was able to win its squadron straight away, but failed in the promotion round . After an eighth place in the 1936/37 season, the club played in the regional leagues in the following years.

With the resumption of gaming operations after the end of World War II , IAR was able to qualify for the Divizia B. With the conversion of production to tractors and the associated renaming of the plant in Uzina Tractorul Brașov in 1948, the association also changed its name to Tractorul Brașov . At the end of the 1947/48 season he had to relegate to Divizia C , which was dissolved during the 1948/49 season, so that Tractorul had to play again in the regional league in the following years.

In 1953, Tractorul was promoted to Divizia B. The following years, the club mostly finished in midfield of the league. After eleven years he had to relegate to Divizia C at the end of the 1964/65 season . There, the club barely missed the promotion in the next few years before returning in 1973. There the team always fought against relegation. After almost remaining in the class several times, Tractorul had to move into Divizia C again in 1982. After initially missing out on promotion to runner-up, the club returned to Divizia B after two years.

In Divizia B Tractorul found himself in the next few years - apart from the 1989/90 season - in the upper midfield, but could not intervene in the fight for promotion. The best placements were fourth. After 18 years, the team withdrew to Divizia C after the 2001/02 season . There the aspired to ascent did not succeed. In 2006 the association finally disbanded.
