Cristian Silviu Bușoi (born March 1, 1978 in Drobeta Turnu Severin ) is a Romanian politician and member of the European Parliament for the Partidul Național Liberal .

Life

Buşoi has been a member of the European Parliament since April 24, 2007 , when he moved up to the same with Horia-Victor Toma , after Adrian Cioroianu and Ovidiu Ioan Silaghi resigned from their seats to take up ministerial posts in the new cabinet of Prime Minister Tariceanu . In the European elections in Romania in 2009 he was able to get back into parliament.

Within the European Parliament he is a member of the Group of the European People's Party . Bușoi is a member of the following committees and delegations: Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection ; Delegation to the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Cooperation Committee ; Delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly and also deputy to the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety , the Legal Affairs Committee , the Delegation for relations with the Pan-African Parliament and the Delegation to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly .

In February 2016, the Romanian press reported that Bușoi's doctoral thesis largely consisted of plagiarism. After the presented parallel prints, whole sentences, paragraphs and pages were taken from other publications that are not mentioned. In a press release, he denied the allegation but did not provide an explanation for the unmarked takeovers. He will refrain from suing the journalists.
