Career

Cristopher Nihlstorp began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of the Malmö Redhawks , for whose professional team he was active from 2003 to 2006 - first in the Elitserien and after relegation in 2005 in the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan . For the 2005/06 season , the goalkeeper moved within the HockeyAllsvenskan to Rögle BK . With Rögle he rose to the Elitserien in the 2007/08 season . As a goalkeeper with the best catch rate in the league, he himself played a key role in this success.

In the 2009/10 season Nihlstorp had to accept relegation to the HockeyAllsvenskan with the Rögle BK. However, he himself moved within the Elitserien to the top club Färjestad BK , with whom he became Swedish champions straight away as a regular goalkeeper in the 2010/11 season . He himself was an important support for his team , especially in the 2011/12 season, with goals against goals of 1.90 in the main round and 1.80 in the playoffs as well as a catch rate of 92.8 percent in the main round and 93.8 percent in the playoffs. With Färjestad, however, he was eliminated in the semi-finals against the eventual champions Brynäs IF .

In June 2012 Nihlstorp received a one-year contract with the Dallas Stars and was initially used by the Texas Stars in the American Hockey League . On January 20, 2013, he made his NHL debut against the Phoenix Coyotes , where he came to five NHL games by the end of the season. After he had also spent the following season, apart from a single NHL assignment, with the Texas Stars and won the Calder Cup with them, Nihlstorp decided to return to his homeland and joined the Växjö Lakers in June 2014 .
