Cry Murder (often spelled Crymurder ) was an Australian melodic death metal and metalcore band from Adelaide that was formed in 2003 and disbanded in 2009.
history
The band played their first concert in 2003, performing with I Killed the Prom Queen . The band consisted of singer Dylan Cameron, bassist Ben Loy, guitarist Mike Loy, drummer Dharran McMahon and guitarist Stacey Taylor. In 2006, the EP From the Shadow of Doubt was released as a self-publication , whereby the group reached a record deal with Resist Records . In 2009 the band performed with I Killed the Prom Queen and Earth Crisis and was featured on the TV show Pushover . In the same year, the debut album Above Us the Waves was released before it went on a national tour with Anime Fire . The album was recorded in late 2008 at Capitalsound Studio and Slaughterhouse Studios under the direction of Zack Ears and mixed at Castle Ultimate Studios in Oakland , California . The master process was taken over by the Swede Goran Finnberg . Towards the end of the year the band broke up. In their career, the band has performed with Day of Contempt , Parkway Drive , Bleeding Through , Shai Hulud , Most Precious Blood , As I Lay Dying , Himsa , Hatebreed and Converge, among others .
style
According to Brian Giffin in his Encyclopedia of Australian Heavy Metal , the band plays a melodic form of metalcore. Allshallperish from killyourstereo.com summarized the music of Above Us the Waves as a mixture of The Acacia Strain , Himsa and Darkest Hour . You can hear the group saying that it has developed in recent years. There is little song material on the album that serves as a mere filler and the breakdowns that are otherwise often used are not that common in the songs.
