Crystal Cox

Crystal Cox , married Walker , (born March 28, 1979 in Norfolk , Virginia ) is a former American athlete .

As a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill , the 1998 sprinter ran 23.25 s over 200 m .

In 2002 she was third in the national indoor championships and seventh outdoors over 200 m. The following year, she reached in the outdoor season both over 200 m and over 400 m the finals of the US championships and was each fifth. At the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo , she was fifth over 200 m.

In 2004 she won the 200 meter indoor title, and in the US trials she was fourth in the 400 meter run. So she had qualified for the Olympic Games in Athens, where she was used in the run-up to the American 4 x 400 meter relay . Since their compatriots DeeDee Trotter , Monique Henderson , Sanya Richards and Monique Hennagan won in the final, Cox also received the gold medal.

After Cox's name appeared in the context of the BALCO affair , the American anti-doping authority USADA began an investigation against her. In 2010 she confessed to doping with anabolic steroids . She has been suspended for four years and all results since November 3, 2001 have been nullified. The IOC withdrew the gold medal from her in 2012.

In 2008 she took sixth place on the reality television show Survivor : Gabon .
