Cung Le (Vietnamese: Cung Lê, born May 25, 1972 in Saigon ) is a martial arts trainer, actor and former American martial artist of Vietnamese descent. Le was San Shou champion several times and was most recently under contract as a mixed martial arts fighter in the Ultimate Fighting Championship .
Career
Mixed martial arts
On March 10, 2006, Cung Le, well-known in the San Shou scene, made his MMA debut at Strikeforce. His opponent at the time was Mike Altman (former kickboxing champion), whom he defeated by knockout. Five more wins followed by knockout, including his last fight against former UFC champion Frank Shamrock . Le also won this fight by a technical knockout when Shamrock broke his arm in the third round. In 2014 he was banned for one year after a positive doping test for HGH .
Movie
In the action film Tekken , which is based on the computer and console game of the same name, Cung Le plays the role of Marshall Law . Le had other supporting roles in the films Pandorum on the side of Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster and Fighting . In 2012 he appeared in the kung fu film The Man with the Iron Fists . He also appears as Chun Le in Wong Kar-Wai's 2013 martial arts film The Grandmaster . In 2014 he played with Dolph Lundgren and Vinnie Jones in Lethal Punisher: Kill or be killed ( A Certain Justice , also Puncture Wounds ). 2017 followed a role in the action film Security .
Private life
Cung Le has two sons.
He runs his own training center in San Jose , California , where he also acts as a trainer.
