Curt Falkenheim (born August 9, 1893 in Cranz , East Prussia , † November 7, 1949 in Rochester (New York) , New York (state) ) was a German pediatrician .

Life

The son of the chairman of the Jewish community in Königsberg , Hugo Falkenheim , studied medicine at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and the Albertus-Universität Königsberg from 1912 . In 1920 he received his doctorate in Königsberg. After working as an assistant at the Silesian Friedrich Wilhelms University in Breslau and the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg , he returned to Königsberg in 1924 as senior physician with Wilhelm Stoeltzner (1872-1954). On October 1, 1927, he succeeded Hans Beumer (1884–1945) at the children's hospital ward of the Königsberg municipal hospitals established in 1925. In 1928 he completed his habilitation in pediatrics .

During the Nazi era , he had to resign in April 1933. Until 1936 he ran a doctor's practice in Königsberg. In 1936 Falkenheim emigrated to the USA, where he found employment as a pediatrician at the Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. There he died of bone cancer at the age of 56 .
