Curt Smith (* 24. June 1961 in Bath , County Somerset , England ) is an English singer . He celebrated his greatest success in the 1980s with the band Tears for Fears .

Life

Curt Smith grew up in Bath as the middle of three siblings. His mother named him after the actor Curd Juergens . Smith is married to Frances a second time, and they have two children, Diva and Wilder.

Musical career

Curt Smith played together with his friend Roland Orzabal in a formation called Graduate in the late 1970s . Since both were dissatisfied with the situation in the band, they formed Elias Tears For Fears together with Ian Stanley and Emmanuel "Manny" in 1981. After three successful albums and great worldwide success, Smith left the band due to tensions in 1990 to continue working solo.

In 1993 his first solo album, Soul on board , was released, which did not have any notable success. After moving to New York City , he founded the band Mayfield with Charlton Pettus , initially as a pure live project, before they released their debut album in 1997. A year later they both moved with their families to Los Angeles, where Smith began work on his next album Halfway, pleased in 2001 .

Due to the renewed rapprochement with his former Tears-for-Fears companion Roland Orzabal and the work on the 2004 comeback album Everybody Loves a Happy Ending , in which Charlton Pettus was also involved, the completion of his third solo album took until 2008. January 2010 his solo single All Is Love was released . In 2010 the Mayfield album was re-released under his name with a bonus track. In 2012 the two download tracks This is Christmas and Perfectly ... were released on iTunes . The album Deceptively Heavy was released in the summer of 2013.

In addition to his work in popular music, Curt Smith also writes music for television and the theater stage.
