Cuscuta monogyna is usually an annual herbaceous plant. It has thick stems .
The flowers are about 3 to 4 mm in size. They are sessile or have a short stalk and are in spike-like inflorescences from one to four-flowered spirals . The calyx is bell-shaped and about 2/3 as long as the corolla tube or almost as long. The calyx lobes are circular-egg-shaped, blunt and overlap each other. They are somewhat keeled and have a finely notched edge. The corolla lobes are ovate, blunt, finely notched and upright. They are about half as long as the cylindrical corolla tube. The anthers do not protrude beyond the crown. The scales at the base of the corolla tube are toothed and almost reach the stamens . The ovary is spherical-conical. The stylus is as long as the scar .
The fruits are capsules with the remains of the crown on top. The seeds are 3 to 3.5 mm long.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 28 or 30.
