Cuvelai is a district in Angola , in southwest Africa .

Cuvelai is the northern starting point of the Oshana system , a water network also known as the Cuvelai system or Cuvelai wetland . It leads to neighboring Namibia . At the border it forms a 130 km wide delta of temporarily occurring watercourses.

Cuvelai is a district ( Município ) in the province of Cunene . The district has 67,100 inhabitants (2019 estimate) on an area of ​​16,270 km². The 2014 census showed 57,398 inhabitants.

The seat of the district is Omukologonjo (also written Mukolongondjo).
