Cvitko Bilić (born October 19, 1943 in Loborika , Kingdom of Italy , now Croatia ) is a former Yugoslav cyclist. He is considered the best cyclist in the country's history.

Career

1961 Cvitko Bilić was Yugoslav junior champion in road racing . He was active as a competitive cyclist until 1974. During these years he was three times Yugoslav champion in the individual time trial , once in the cyclo-cross race . Four times (1966, 1967, 1970, 1971) he finished second at the national road racing championships, but he never won the title. 1965 and 1971 he won the Yugoslavian tour , three times (1967, 1968 and 1970), the Istrian Spring Trophy and the twice (1971 and 1973), the Croatia-Tour of Slovenia and Serbia Tour (1971 and 1973). At the end of his sporting career, he won the Gran Premio della Liberazione in 1973 . Bilić was also active on the track and won national titles there. Cvitko Bilić started in 1963 (65th overall) and 1970 (eliminated) in the International Peace Tour .

Bilić started twice at the Olympic Games: in 1968 in Mexico City he finished 25th in the road race and was together with the Yugoslav team 16th in the team time trial , in 1972 in Munich the Yugoslav team with Bilić was 21st in the time trial. At the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul , he looked after the Yugoslav team as team captain and coach.

In 1967 Bilić was excluded from the race with three other drivers at the Tour de l'Avenir in France after the 9th stage because doping agents were detected in them .
