Cyril Bondi

Cyril Bondi (* 1980 ) is a Swiss jazz and improvisation musician ( drums , percussion ) and band leader .

Live and act

Bondi has worked as a drummer and percussionist since 1994 and received lessons from Alain Frey. Since 1998 he has studied with Raùl Esmerode at the Geneva Conservatory , where he graduated in 2002, and worked with jazz in the studios of the Geneva Association pour l'Encouragement de la Musique Improvisée . At first he was a founding member of the formation l'ironie du son , with which four albums were created. In addition, he dealt with improvised music and played a. a. with Otomo Yoshihide , Gabriel Zufferey and Guillaume Perret . With Gaël Riondel and the electro acoustician d'incise , he founded the trio diatribes , which released an album and toured Poland (2006) and Italy (2007). Bondi also appeared at various festivals such as Jazz Contreband , Balelec 05, Cully Jazz Festival off, Festival Electron and the Festival AMR aux Cropettes. Bondi is a founding member of the Plaistow jazz band and worked in a duo with Yann Leguay in the komatsu formation ; he also played a. a. with Christophe Berthet , Vinz Vonlanthen , Jacques Demierre , Christof Knoche , Jonas Kocher and Ernesto Rodrigues . He is also an organizer and leader of the Insub Meta Orchestra and one of the coordinators of the platform Insub.org.

Insub Meta Orchestra

The Insub Meta Orchestra was founded in 2010 and emerged from the association and label Insubordinations , which has been publishing improvisation music since 2006. The regular members of the orchestra include a group of 45 musicians from Switzerland and other countries. “After more than twenty concerts and two residencies, the IMO has succeeded in developing its own distinctive approach to large group improvisation. The IMO plays a music in which the instruments give up their classical functions and sounds in favor of abstract phonetic artefacts and consequently are in non-hierarchically determined relationships to one another. "
