The Dôme du Goûter is a 4,304 meter high mountain in the Mont Blanc massif . It is located on French soil in the Haute-Savoie department . The border between France and Italy runs 200 meters south below its summit .

location

The ice- and firn-covered mountain is about 2 kilometers as the crow flies northwest of Mont Blanc . The often used normal route leads over it to the main summit over the Bosses ridge , as an independent summit destination it is of little importance. Its little pronounced ridges and flanks have a maximum incline of 45 °. Neighboring peaks are in the east-northeast of Mont Maudit with 4,465 meters altitude, in the southeast of Mont Blanc and in the west the Aiguille de Bionnassay (4,052 m).

Base and easiest ascent

The Refuge du Goûter at an altitude of 3,817 meters serves as a base for ascent via the normal route . From there, the path with the French difficulty level PD ( peu difficile , German: not very difficult) takes 3 to 4 hours over the northwest ridge to the summit of the Dôme du Goûter. Another 2 to 3 hours should be planned for the continuation of the tour over the Bosses ridge to the Mont Blanc summit. Especially for ski tours on the Montblanc, the Dôme du Goûter is also climbed from the Refuge des Grands Mulets via its north ridge.

On the Italian side, the Rifugio Francesco Gonella refuge serves as a base.
