Döhlen is a district of Zwenkau in Saxony . It is located directly on the right bank of the White Elster .

history

The village was founded as a farming hamlet north of Rüssen. It was first mentioned in writing in 1548. About 50 people lived in the village around 1834. August Schumann gives seven houses in 1814. Dohlen was in the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Pegau until 1856 . From 1856 the place belonged to the court office Zwenkau and from 1875 to the administrative authority of Leipzig . As a district of Rüssen, the village had been a district of the rural community Rüssen-Kleinstorkwitz since 1957 , and was incorporated into Zwenkau on October 1, 1996 together with it.

As a result of the floods in Central Europe in 2013 , Reif Baugesellschaft was commissioned by the state dam administration of the Free State of Saxony to renovate the Döhlen ring dike. The upgrading of the flood protection dyke (HWD) and the creation of the dike defense paths behind it took place between October 2013 and January 2014 and cost the Free State, according to the contractor, half a million euros.

Culture

The school building of the community part is worth seeing, which was completely renovated from 2010 to April 2014 and has been used by the Christian Montessori all-day school since 2008 .
