The Dünberg is 445.4  m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the south of Eichsfeld in the Unstrut-Hainich district , Thuringia ( Germany ).

location

The Dünberg is located in the foothills of the Obereichsfelder Muschelkalkplatte in the western part of the Unstrut-Hainich district immediately east of Hildebrandshausen , south of Lengenfeld unterm Stein and northwest of Faulungen . The district town of Mühlhausen is about 14 kilometers to the east.

Natural classification

The mountain is part of the Eichenberg – Gotha – Saalfeld fault zone and, according to the natural structure in the Kassel sheet, is part of the Upper Friedatal area (no. 483.21) within the western upper area (no. 483.2) of the north-western edge of the Thuringian basin (no. 483).

According to the structure within Thuringia ( The Natural Spaces of Thuringia ), it is assigned to the Werrabergland-Hörselberge unit.

nature

The completely forested Dünberg, only its lower slopes are used for agriculture, is bordered by the Rosebach in the west, the Frieda in the northeast and the Faulunger Bach in the east. To the southeast, the mountain is connected to the northwestern Hainich by a ridge (over the Gaiberg : 446 m, Die Liethe : approx. 435 m, Heinzenberg : 451 m and the Steinernen Mann : 473 m) . To the north is the Heiligenberg (approx. 375 m), on its eastern slope there is a crevice, the so-called human cave . The Dünberg is located in the Obereichsfeld nature reserve and various hiking trails lead across the mountain area. A Lourdes grotto was built above Lengenfeld at the end of the 19th century.
