The Düppeler Forst (Berliner Forst Düppel) is a 1300  hectare state-owned forest area in the southwest of Berlin . It is the smallest of the five major Berlin forests . It is divided into two areas: On the one hand, the forest in the village of Düppel between the former estate and the former Dreilinden hunting lodge in the districts of Nikolassee and Wannsee . On the other hand, the forest area on the Wannsee Island , which was part of the Potsdam Forest until it was incorporated into Greater Berlin in 1920 and is now part of the Wannsee district. Both areas are tangent for a short distance along the Griebnitz Canal between Stölpchensee and Griebnitzsee .

According to the sandy soil pass the forestry used wooded areas of pine mixed forests , of deciduous woods are interspersed. Today the main value of these forest areas lies less in forestry than in the recreational use of the city dwellers. In particular, the forest parts located on the island of Wannsee extend to scenic areas between the second highest natural elevation in Berlin, the Schäferberg , and the Havel . Numerous leisure activities between Kneipp and culture trails have been set up here, which are explained on site.

The Schäferberg , also called Kilometerberg , is located in the Düppeler Forest. It is a natural elevation on the Wannsee Island near the Berlin district of Wannsee , Steglitz-Zehlendorf district . At 103.2  m above sea level NHN it is the fourth highest elevation in Berlin .

The western part of the forest has been the essential part of the EU bird sanctuary Westlicher Düppeler Forst since 1992 .
