D-Day - Decision in Normandy (original title: D-Day June 6, 1944 ) is a documentary feature film on the British television broadcaster BBC from 2004 about the invasion of Normandy in 1944. The German television broadcaster ProSieben participated in the financing of the documentation and aired it on June 5, 2004 on the 60th anniversary of the Normandy landing.

action

The film documents the events of Operation Neptune : the planning, the training and its secrecy, as well as sub-operations and the German situation during the so-called D-Day .

criticism

“The information content of the production is convincing - not even the failed dress rehearsal ' Tiger ' is left out - but the presentation is disappointing. The statements of the contemporary witnesses are illustrated with weak play scenes, and in between, director Richard Dale too often relies on meaningful glances. The result was a mixture that neither works as a documentary nor as a war film. "

"On the occasion of the 60th anniversary, the lavishly produced documentary feature film by the BBC recalls the events from multiple perspectives and sets a monument to the soldiers."
