The D-Sailors were a punk rock band from Jülich .

Band history

In 1993 Uli Breitbach (vocals), Ingmar Krause (guitar), Uli Grossmann (guitar - bass from 1995), Tim Bartel (bass until 1995) and Marco Böddecker (drums) founded the band The Drunken Sailors . The concerts were initially limited to the catchment area of Jülich . In September 1995 the bassist left the band - the place was taken over by Uli Grossmann. The band name was changed to D. Sailors .

After two tapes were recorded in 1994 and 1995 , the first CD D. Sailors followed in 1996 . After releasing their second album How to Drive , the band was signed to Vitaminepillen Records in 1997 . A New Project followed a year later .

The band became increasingly known - concerts took place all over Germany. After another year full of concerts, the Sailors began recording their album Mind Dressing at the end of 1999 , which was released in Germany in March 2000. This year the band began to keep a continuous “tour diary” - every concert was commented on on the website and usually illustrated. From August of this year, the Sailors had their longest tour and studio-free time to date, as Uli Breitbach was doing an internship at Lookout! Records made. After his return, Vitaminepillen Records released the album Multilateral , the release of which was followed by a 24-day tour across Germany with the Brazilian band Nitrominds . In September Nitroala Records released the album Mind Dressing in Brazil .

At the beginning of 2002 concerts with the wealthy children , the terror group and Rantanplan followed . Due to the successful “multilateral” tour in 2001, the decision was made to tour Brazil with Nitrominds again the following year. Since Marco Böddecker could not travel to Brazil for health reasons, the Sailors played on this tour with the "substitute drummer" Caddy. The Sailors were surprised by the exuberant enthusiasm of the Brazilian fans. The concerts took place in front of several hundred people, and fueled by the previous release of the multilateral album by Nitroala Records, the lyrics were already known to many visitors and were sung along completely. Back in Germany, more concerts with the Nitrominds, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Tagtraum followed . Since the end of 2002 the agency Pulse Entertainment has been responsible for booking inquiries.

In 2003 the 10-year birthday party took place in Jülich, at which a large number of bands played covered Sailors songs. In France, Liv4yerself Records released the split album Feeling Cramped, Pushing back Borders together with Freygolo - Imperial Records released the CD Rewind in Japan . After concerts with scrap metal , the affluent children , Knorkator and the Nitrominds, the last concert with Marco Böddecker on drums took place in March 2004. He had to retire for health reasons - his part will be taken over by Matthias 'Matthi' Brus, who previously played at Bizibox . After a two-month break, concerts and the release of Lies and Hoes followed - in Germany with Rocktypen with distribution by Alive, in Brazil with Nitroala Records.

Another tour of Brazil followed in July 2004, with the Sailors appearing in Rio de Janeiro on a program on the Brazilian television channel TVE. A video was produced for the song Uniform , which was also shown on German television ( Viva Plus ) from September 2004 . The beginning of 2005 was overshadowed by the death of the founding member and ex-drummer Marco.

The Sailors cover of We Built This City was chosen at the end of 2005 as the opener of the youth program “Console” on the Cologne TV station Center.tv . While the Sailors only made a few appearances in Germany in 2006, they again tour Brazil in June / July 2007, and in August the new album Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea was released .

In February 2010 the Sailors announced their dissolution on their website. They played their farewell concert on June 12, 2010 in Kuba (Kulturbahnhof) in Jülich.
