DJ Mike MD

DJ Mike MD , born Michael Jean Pierre Dippon, is a German music producer, sound engineer and DJ. He comes from the Swabian community of Illingen in the greater Stuttgart area, where he runs his own music studio called MDs Dome Studio .

Life

In the early days of the hip-hop movement in Germany at the beginning of the 1980s, DJ Mike MD became an enthusiastic breakdancer thanks to the film Wild Style and from 1988 to 1995 he regularly performed at events all over the world with his Pforzheim b-boy crew Rocking Force Europe on. At the same time he began to be interested in DJing or turntablism , which he has been actively pursuing since 1984 and which later brought him to producing. With his two legs in the hip-hop scene were based later various musical projects such as Colors United with the New York rapper Dee Smoove or No Limits, a hip-hop group that he and Toni L had founded. From this group emerged in 1987, when Gee One, Torch and Linguist joined, the group Advanced Chemistry , later celebrated as hip-hop pioneers . Before joining Advanced Chemistry, he made clear political statements with the English-speaking duo Colors United (e.g. with the single Stop The Racism ).

In 1991 he left the Heidelberg hip-hop band and concentrated on Colors United and other musical projects. Although Mike MD now concentrated on his own projects, the exit was never confirmed by either side. He then built his own music studio called MD Dome Studio, which he still operates today. In addition, Mike MD started various individual projects in the Latin, House and Brazil areas.

To this day he has produced several solo pieces for Toni L as well as various tracks and remixes for Gloria Gaynor , Curtis Womack, the Southside Rockers, Sqeezer , Bed & Breakfast and Ermitage, among others . Mike MD also worked on a solo project by his friend and former colleague linguist. As a producer he made it into the Media Control Charts together with Syndicate Musikproduktion in Munich (Sqeezer) and Heiko Maile (Southside Rockers). Royal Melody was also able to place almost all of its releases in various European dance & club charts. Under the pseudonym Miq Puentes, he entered the top 100 sales charts of the online music distributor traxsource several times. In another collaboration with Heiko Maile , also under the pseudonym Miq Puentes, he was able to contribute a few titles for the political thriller " The Fourth Power " with Moritz Bleibtreu .

Projects

Colors United

Colors United was a hip-hop crew that was founded in 1986 by the New York rapper Dee Smoove, who was then still stationed in Germany as a GI soldier, and DJ Mike MD. The following year, Mike MD recorded the first songs in his home studio, including Can We Be Friends and the single Legally Dope released four years later . With Colors United and his Pforzheimer B-Boy Crew Rocking Force , Mike MD is regularly on jams all over Europe from 1988 to 1995.

Together with Dee Smoove, he mainly campaigned for peaceful coexistence and was involved in the fight against racism. The Hip Hop Crew also worked with fresh FANTASY eV on a project against drug use: KIDS AGAINST DRUGS. Together they produced the single Just Say No , which was released a little later on MCA Records.

Colors United were initially at HYPE! Records under contract. Because of withholding the already completed works, Colors United signed a little later with Rude Boy Records .

Sugarcube Inc

Sugarcube Inc is a disco house project that was founded in 2001 by producers and DJs Chris Rockford and DJ Mike MD after they met in the backstage area of ​​the TV event The Dome . While Mike MD accompanied the act Southside Rockers produced by Heiko Maile and himself , Chris was a guest with his chart act Lamar . Various disco house productions followed. The most successful - "Rock The Boat" (a cover of the hit by The Hues Corporation ) was released in 2005 on the label "Le bien et le mal" and was re-released in 2012 under the name Rock The Boat Recall 2012. Coronabros

The Duo Coronabros consists of the two members Carlos Serrano Del Rio and DJ Mike MD, who met each other in 2000. Carlos later became the MD of the band Maida Vale , which was produced by Mike at the time. In 2002 they founded Coronabros together, a project with which they mainly make house music with a Latin flavor, similar to the Latin House / Balearic House . They are particularly successful in Russia.

Royal Melody

Royal Melody is a mainstream house project by producers Chris Rockford and DJ Mike MD, which was founded in 2005. Both are also known as Sugarcube Inc, but publish mainstream projects as Royal Melody and can also point to multiple chart placements. In 2006, The Beatfreakz released a remix of the song Blinded By The night by Manfred Mann's Earth Band via Spinnin 'Records , which entered the Dutch Mega Top 100 charts. Her remix of the world hit from Captain Hollywood Project "More & More Recall 2008" was unceremoniously declared the official A-side of the re-release by the A45 music label and was to be found at number one in several dance charts for a few weeks later.
