DMG Inc. , previously RV Alfonso, DMG Inc. , was a Filipino manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in Manila in 1955 . DMG stood for Diesel Motors of Germany. Initially there was a connection to Hanomag and Henschel & Sohn . In 1958 there was a connection with Volkswagen AG . The production and assembly of commercial vehicles began in 1958 and that of passenger cars in 1959. In 1974, a separate model was added. The brand name was either DMG or Toro . From 1979 the company was based in Quezon City . Production ended in 1978, 1982, 1984 or 1985.

It is not known when the company was dissolved.

vehicles

The VW Country Buggy was imported from Volkswagen Australasia in the late 1960s and offered as VW Sakbayan . This was a multi-purpose vehicle, the open version resembling a beach wagon.

The Toro was a coupe . The body was made of plastic . The vehicle was based on the chassis of the VW Beetle . Its four - cylinder boxer engine was mounted in the rear and powered the rear wheels. The smaller of the two engines mentioned made 44 hp from a displacement of 1285 cm³ . The larger engine had a displacement of 1584 cc and an output of 54 hp. With a wheelbase of 2400 mm, the vehicle was 4300 mm long, 1635 mm wide and 1345 mm high.
