The railcars 755 and 756 were a series of railcars of the first generation with benzene engines, which were built as a so-called heavy version for the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR).

history

The vehicles are to be regarded as a duplicated version of the DR 701 to 704 . From the series mentioned, two engines and transmissions with the same power and power transmission were installed in each railcar. The difference to the railcars 701 to 704 is that two drive systems are controlled from one driver's cab.

The railcars 755–756 were delivered to the DR in 1926. They were regarded as railcars for steep inclines with a capacity of 65 people. At first they had a 3rd class compartment and a 4th class compartment with a toilet. In a later renovation, the 4th class was removed. Instead, the vehicles were given a 2nd class compartment in the middle of the car. Smoking was prohibited in the railcars.

The machinery was arranged in the driver's cab in front of the entry area and covered with a hood. The engine was arranged lengthways. The railcars, like the DR 701 to 704, received two additional front coolers for engine cooling on the vehicle roof around 1930. The NAG WG 70 mechanical gearbox was constructed similarly to the Mylius gearbox , the difference being in the operation. With the Mylius gearbox, the gear was preselected, with the NAG gearbox, the shift lever could only be moved after the drive switch was set to 0 or 1.

The railcars were mainly used at the Delitzsch (755) and Kassel (756) depots. Before 1932 the 755 was taken out of service after a fire and scrapped. At the beginning of the war, the 756 was initially shut down. After converting the propulsion system to LPG, it was ready for operation again. After the end of the war, it remained parked at Eschwege station after an aircraft damage and was scrapped in the same year.
