DSB MBF (I)

The railcars of the Danish series DSB MBF (I) were built between 1926 and 1927 by the Danish locomotive factory Scandia A / S in Randers as the predecessor of the series Kielervogne for various private railways .

They were only included in this Danske Statsbaner (DSB) series after the nationalization of the train operations of the respective owner company and used freely by them. However, they did not become the property of DSB, but remained with the respective company.

SNB MB 1

The railcar SNB MB 1 was procured by A / S Svendborg – Nyborg Jernbaneselskab (SNB) for operation on the Danish private railway line Svendborg – Nyborg , which opened in 1897 .

Since the Svendborg – Nyborg railway line was leased to Sydfyenske Jernbaneselskab (SFJ) in 1902 , the vehicles have been maintained and used by the SFJ.

With the takeover of Sydfyenske Jernbaner on April 1, 1949 by Danske Statsbaner (DSB), the SNB vehicles were transferred to the state railways for use. However, the railcar remained in the possession of the SNB and did not become the property of the state railways. It received the series designation MBF and the road number 481.

It was modernized at Scandia in 1949 and was in service in Fåborg from 1952 to 1955. It was taken out of service at SFJ / SNB in ​​1957. In 1959 the railcar was sold to Randers – Hadsund Jernbane for 9,000 kroner and was given the name RHJ M 3 . It was retired in 1969.

SFB MB 2

The SFB MB 2 railcar was procured from Faaborg – Svendborg Jernbaneselskab (SNB) for operation on the Danish private railway line Svendborg – Faaborg , which opened in 1916 .

The management on this route had been the Sydfyenske Jernbaneselskab (SFJ), which was responsible for the vehicle maintenance and the use of the vehicles.

With the takeover of Sydfyenske Jernbaner on April 1, 1949 by Danske Statsbaner (DSB), the SFB vehicles were transferred to the state railways for use. However, the railcar remained in the possession of the SFB and did not become the property of the state railways. It received the series designation MBF and the road number 482.

It was modernized at Scandia in 1949. In 1952 the vehicle was sold for 200,000 crowns to Nordvestfyenske Jernbane to operate the Odense – Middelfart – Bogense line . There it was given the designation OMB MH 6 . After another renovation at Scandia in 1954, it was in use until 1964.

In 1966 it was sold to Randers-Hadsund Jernbane for 10,000 kroner. For use on the Randers – Hadsund railway line, it was given the designation RHJ M 4 .

After its retirement in 1969, it was acquired by the Dansk Jernbane-Klub (DJK) for the Mariager-Handest Veteranjernbane (MHVJ) for 3,937.50 crowns . In 2016 the railcar was parked in Handest .

ONFJ MB 3

The ONFJ MB 3 railcar was procured from Odense – Nørre Broby – Faaborg Jernbane (ONFJ) for operation on the Danish private railway line Odense – Faaborg , which opened in 1906 .

The management on this route had been the Sydfyenske Jernbaneselskab (SFJ), which was responsible for the vehicle maintenance and the use of the vehicles.

With the takeover of Sydfyenske Jernbaner on April 1, 1949 by Danske Statsbaner (DSB), the ONFJ vehicles were transferred to the state railways for use. However, the railcar remained in the possession of the ONFJ and did not become the property of the state railways. It received the series designation MBF and the road number 483.

It was modernized at Scandia in 1949 and deployed from Fåborg in 1952 and 1953. In 1957 it was sold to Nordfyenske Jernbaner for 10,500 crowns and was given the name NFJ MH 8 there . In 1964 it received an engine from Frichs, was shut down in 1966 and retired in 1967.

Replacement drive unit

In 1928, Sydfyenske Jernbaneselskab had procured a replacement drive unit from Scandia with order number 2222 for all three railcars . This unit with the axle arrangement (1A) (A1) and the output of 150 hp cost 34,560 crowns and was designated as SFJ M 5 . This unit was used for all three railcars when required. It was sold to Nordvestfyenske Jernbane (OMB) in 1949 . There it was used for installation in the OMB MD 5 railcar, which was purchased without an engine .
