Dagmar Belakowitsch , until July 25, 2017 Dagmar Belakowitsch-Jenewein , (born August 24, 1968 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) and has been a member of the Austrian National Council since 2006 . She is the health spokesperson for the FPÖ parliamentary club .

Education and training

Dagmar Belakowitsch attended elementary school and a general high school and then began studying medicine at the University of Vienna and Graz . She finished her studies with the degree of Dr. med. univ.

Political career

Dagmar Belakowitsch joined the Freedom Party in Vienna in 1994 and became a member of the Vienna Landstrasse district management . In 1996 she was elected district councilor. In 2002 she was promoted to a member of the regional party leadership of the FPÖ Vienna and in 2004 moved to the district leadership of Vienna- Ottakring . In 2005, Belakowitsch also moved from the Landstrasse district to Ottakring as a district councilor, where she has been the managing district party leader since 2006, but resigned from her mandate as district councilor in 2006. Since 2006 Belakowitsch has also been a member of the regional party executive of the FPÖ Vienna.

Belakowitsch has represented the FPÖ in the Austrian National Council since October 30, 2006, to which it was elected through a mandate from the Vienna state election proposal. After Barbara Rosenkranz left, Belakowitsch was the only female MP of the FPÖ for six months and was the FPÖ's female spokesperson until October 2008. Belakowitsch has been the chairman of the health committee since 2008 and also health spokesperson for the FPÖ parliamentary club.

During the legislative period (2013–2017) Dagmar Belakowitsch was chairman of the health committee, deputy chairman of the standing subcommittee of the committee for internal affairs and a member of the following committees: committee for labor and social affairs, committee for internal affairs, main committee and incompatibility committee.

Political positions

In 2010, while still in the opposition, she called for a referendum on the subject of a ban on smoking as health spokeswoman for the FPÖ . The 2018, meanwhile, the FPÖ in coalition with the ÖVP belonged to the federal government and spoke out against smoking bans, the referendum "Don't smoke" introduced by the Medical Association and the Cancer Aid described them as dubious and politically motivated.

At the beginning of 2019, in a speech in the National Council on the occasion of a motion of no confidence against Interior Minister Herbert Kickl (FPÖ), she stated her position: "We never have to come to terms with the fact that laws hinder our actions." One of the reasons for the motion of no confidence was Kickl's statement: " I still believe that the principle applies that the law must follow politics and not politics follow the law. "

Belakovich has two children. Her brother is the politician Hans-Jörg Jenewein .
