List of members of the Austrian National Council (XXV legislative period)
This list of the members of the Austrian National Council (XXV. Legislative period) lists all members of the Austrian National Council in the XXV. Legislative period. The legislative period began with the constituent session of the National Council on October 29, 2013 and ended on November 8, 2017. After the National Council election on September 29, 2013, 52 of the 183 mandates went to the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) and 47 to the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP), 40 to the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) and 24 to The Greens - The Green Alternative (GRÜNE).
For the first time, the Stronach team was represented as an elected party with eleven members of parliament; the NEOS were completely new, as they entered an electoral alliance with the Liberal Forum and therefore acted as the NEOS-LIF club with their nine members until the merger with the LIF. From January 30, 2014, the MPs were united in the NEOS Club.
Functions
National Council Presidency
After the SPÖ was able to defend first place in the National Council election, it was entitled to the National Council President in accordance with parliamentary tradition. The SPÖ nominated Barbara Prammer again , who had held this position since October 30, 2006. In the election of the three National Council presidents, Prammer was confirmed in office on October 29, 2013 with 147 of 176 votes or 83.5 percent. After Fritz Neugebauer withdrew , the ÖVP nominated the previous club chairman, Karlheinz Kopf, for the post of Second President of the National Council, with Kopf receiving 141 of 172 valid votes and thus 82.0 percent. The FPÖ nominated Norbert Hofer for the office of Third President of the National Council after the previous Third President of the National Council, Martin Graf , had withdrawn before the National Council election after repeated criticism of his position. Hofer was elected with 118 of 147 valid votes or 80.3 percent.
After Prammer's death, Doris Bures , also from the SPÖ, was elected as the new President of the National Council with 117 of 150 votes (78.0 percent) on September 2, 2014 .
Parliamentary clubs
With the following exceptions, the MPs elected within the framework of an electoral party each formed a corresponding club.
- Monika Lindner , who was a candidate for the Stronach team, did not join the club and worked for a few days as a “ wild deputy ” before leaving the National Council on November 30, 2013.
- On June 3, 2015, the change of the two members of the Stronach team, Georg Vetter and Marcus Franz , to the parliamentary club of the ÖVP was announced.
- On June 17, 2015, the Salzburg FPÖ were the two deputies for secession Gerhard Schmid and Rupert Doppler excluded from the Freedom Party National Club because it is the outdoor party Salzburg by Karl Schnell connected and had thus turned away from the Freedom Party national conventions.
- On August 1st, 2015 it was announced that Kathrin Nachbaur and Rouven Ertlschweiger from the Stronach team were moving to the parliamentary club of the ÖVP, but both remain independent of parties.
- Jessi Lintl , also from Team Stronach, resigned from Team Stronach's parliamentary club on August 11, 2015 without joining any other club and thus became a “wild member of parliament”. After four months, she joined the FPÖ parliamentary club on December 23, 2015 .
- After an anti-Semitic Facebook post, Susanne Winter was expelled from the FPÖ on November 2, 2015 and thus also from the FPÖ parliamentary club. Since then she has been a "wild MP".
- As a result of a statement that attacked Angela Merkel and her refugee policy on a very personal level and which also led to criticism from within the party, Marcus Franz resigned from the ÖVP club on March 1, 2016, to which he had only switched a little more than six months earlier was, out and became an independent MP.
- On March 30, 2017, the previous NEOS mandate Christoph Vavrik switched to the ÖVP.
- Peter Pilz left the green club on July 17, 2017 . He founded a list , which on July 28th Daniela Holzinger-Vogtenhuber (formerly SPÖ), Wolfgang Zinggl and Bruno Rossmann (both formerly Greens) joined.
- On August 7, 2017, Barbara Rosenkranz announced that she would run for the Free List Austria , whereupon she was excluded from the FPÖ club.
- With the departure of Martina Schenk and Robert Lugar , the Stronach team lost their club status, which meant that 15 MPs were non-attached from that point on.
- On August 11, 2017, Robert Lugar joined the FPÖ club.
Club chairmen
After the losses of the SPÖ-ÖVP government in the National Council election, both coalition partners exchanged their club leadership. After twelve years, Josef Cap had to resign as SPÖ club chairman at the request of party leader Werner Faymann , whereupon the previous finance state secretary Andreas Schieder was elected as the new club chairman by 87.8 percent of the SPÖ MPs. Cap then took on the role of vice club chairman. The previous club chairman was also replaced in the ÖVP, but Karlheinz Kopf was nominated for the office of Second National Council President. As the new club chairman, he was first followed by party chairman Michael Spindelegger , who was elected interim club boss with 93.2 percent. After the formation of the government, Reinhold Lopatka succeeded him as club chairman of the ÖVP.
In contrast to the previous governing parties, the club chairmen of the FPÖ and the Greens were confirmed in office. The FPÖ club chairman Heinz-Christian Strache , who had been in office since 2006, was the longest serving club chairman in the National Council. Eva Glawischnig-Piesczek , the Greens club chairwoman, had held the position since 2008. After she left the National Council on May 18, 2017, the Green Parliamentary Club elected Albert Steinhauser as her successor as club chairman. Even Werner Kogler was confirmed as chairwoman deputy of the Greens.
For the Stronach team, the previous club chairman Robert Lugar had already retired in advance for re-election. As a result, at the request of party founder Frank Stronach , Kathrin Nachbaur was initially elected club boss, but she subsequently appointed former FPÖ mandate Waltraud Dietrich "at least for a certain time" as the club's managing director. After Dietrich was elected club chairwoman of Team Stronach on February 6, she was replaced in this role on August 3, 2015 by Robert Lugar, who had already been club chairman of Team Stronach in the previous legislative period. The NEOS, represented for the first time in parliament, was also head of the party, Matthias Strolz , as club chairman . His deputy was Nikolaus Scherak or, until she left the National Council, Angelika Mlinar .
