Günther Kumpitsch

Günther Kumpitsch (born July 7, 1960 in Eibiswald ) is an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) and police lawyer. Kumpitsch was a member of the Austrian National Council from June 2015 to October 2019 .

Günther Kumpitsch was born on July 7, 1960 in Eibiswald in the Styrian district of Deutschlandsberg . He attended elementary and secondary school in Wies and then the Realgymnasium Deutschlandsberg . After completing compulsory schooling, he was an apprentice toolmaker from 1975 to 1979 . In 1979, Kumpitsch finally became a gendarmerie officer , initially being transferred to the gendarmerie post in Oberort-Tragöß immediately after his training . A year and a half later he was transferred to the Feldkirchen gendarmerie post , which also includes Graz Airport . Only one year later he was transferred to the regional traffic department at the Styrian regional gendarmerie command in Graz .

From 1983, Günther Kumpitsch made up his Matura as part of the vocational maturity examination . Following this, he started first training as a police officer , and finally the Study of Law at the University of Graz , which he with the graduation of Magister iuris successfully completed (Mag.iur.). He subsequently accepted a post at the Vienna Federal Police Directorate after his court practice . He later moved back to Styria to the criminal office of the Graz Federal Police Directorate, where he completed 17 years of service. On January 1, 2012, Kumpitsch finally became the main legal clerk in the State Criminal Police Office of the State Police Directorate of Styria. Günther Kumpitsch has also been working as a driving examiner since 1995 .

Political career

Günther Kumpitsch ran for the first time for a political electoral office on November 26th, 2009, when he ran for the action group of independent and libertarians (AUF) in the context of the staff representation elections at his former office, the criminal office of the Federal Police Directorate Graz and with almost 30% of the votes a mandate in Service Committee obtained. Kumpitsch also ran for the FPÖ in his home town of Attendorf in the subsequent municipal council election . After the election he was the only FPÖ mandate to join the Attendorfer municipal council. In the 2015 municipal council elections , Kumpitsch was re-elected to the municipal council and vice-mayor of the municipality, which is now called Hitzendorf . He has been deputy district party chairman of the FPÖ in the Graz-Umgebung district since 2013 and local party chairman of the FPÖ Hitzendorf since 2014.

After Günther Kumpitsch ran for a mandate in the 2010 state elections , the FPÖ placed him in third place in the 2013 National Council election in the regional constituency of Graz and the surrounding area . In the Styrian constituency , he ran for position 14 on the FPÖ list. In the state elections in Styria in 2015 , the previous mandate holder of the regional constituency of Graz and the surrounding area, FPÖ top candidate Mario Kunasek , was elected to the state parliament, which freed his mandate in the National Council. On June 17, 2015, Günther Kumpitsch succeeded him as a member of the National Council when this mandate had become vacant. In the 2017 National Council election , Kumpitsch ran for second place on the FPÖ list for the regional constituency of Graz and the surrounding area. After the FPÖ was able to achieve two basic mandates in this constituency with 23.7%, Günther Kumpitsch moved back to the National Council on November 9, 2017 through this mandate. After the National Council election in 2019 , he resigned from the National Council.

Private

Günther Kumpitsch is married and has four children and a stepson. He lives with his family in Hitzendorf near Graz and works full-time as a police lawyer in the Styrian State Criminal Police Office. As part of his official activities, he has the official title of Hofrat . On December 15, 2004 Günther Kumpitsch was awarded the Gold Medal of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria .
