August Wöginger (2017)

August Wöginger (born November 2, 1974 in Passau , Germany ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

He has been a member of the National Council since 2002, where he is the ÖVP social spokesman, and since December 2017 he has also been the chairman of the ÖVP parliamentary club . Since 2016 he has been chairman of the Austrian Workers' Union (ÖAAB), a sub-organization of the ÖVP.

education and profession

After attending elementary and secondary school in Münzkirchen , he passed his Matura in 1994 at the commercial academy in Schärding . After completing his community service, August Wöginger worked for the Red Cross in the Schärding District Secretariat from 1995 to 2017 . From 2006 to 2014 he was also Chairman of the Works Council of the Red Cross Upper Austria.

Political career

August Wöginger has been politically active since he was 16. From 1997 to 2002 he was a local councilor in Esternberg im Innviertel, since 2003 he has been a member of the local council of his residential community Sigharting , where he was vice mayor from 2008 to 2015.

He has held the office of district chairman of ÖAAB Schärding since 2003 and that of ÖVP district chairman since 2010. In addition, since May 2015 he has been regional chairman of ÖAAB Upper Austria. In September 2012 he took over the role of Secretary General of the ÖAAB. In October 2013 August Wöginger became the deputy chairman of the ÖVP parliamentary club, and since September 2014 he has been the regional party chairman of the Upper Austrian People's Party . In 2016 he succeeded Johanna Mikl-Leitner as federal chairman of the ÖAAB.

He has been a member of the National Council since December 20, 2002 and has been a social spokesman for the ÖVP parliamentary club for many years. He has been the chairman of the ÖVP parliamentary club since December 19, 2017.

Private

August Wöginger is married and has three children.
