Friedrich Ofenauer (born January 9, 1973 in St. Pölten ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). He has been a member of the Austrian National Council since December 2013 .

Ofenauer is married, has three children and lives in the Lower Austrian municipality of Markersdorf-Haindorf , where he is also mayor.

education and profession

Friedrich Ofenauer attended elementary school in Markersdorf and secondary school in Prinzersdorf . In 1991 he graduated from the BORG in St. Pölten . From 1991 to 1997 he studied law at the University of Linz and graduated with the Diploma of Master of Law from. Afterwards, Ofenauer completed the judicial practice from August 1997 to May 1999 with an interruption from October 1997 to May 1998 to do the military service . After completing his legal practice in 1999, Friedrich Ofenauer worked for half a year at Uniqa Insurance Group in the motor vehicle claims department.

Ofenauer's career as a state official began as an employee in the district authorities of the Melk districts , where he worked from 1999 to 2002, and Krems , where he worked until 2005. He then worked for three years, from 2005 to 2008, in the office of the incumbent Governor of Lower Austria Erwin Pröll . Most recently, from 2008 to 2013, he worked in the building and regional planning law department in the office of the Lower Austrian provincial government .

Political career

Friedrich Ofenauer was a member of the local council of his home community Markersdorf-Haindorf from 2005 to 2007 . He was then a member of the community council for three years , and in 2010 he was elected mayor of Markersdorf-Haindorf. From 2008 to 2012 he was also a community group chairman of the ÖAAB in his home community and since 2014 he has also been the community party chairman there.

On December 17, 2013, Ofenauer was sworn in for the first time as a member of the National Council as a candidate for the mandate in the Lower Austria electoral district of the ÖVP mandate, who is leaving parliament, for Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner . After he was reelected to the National Council on a regional constituency mandate of the regional constituency of Lower Austria Mitte in the 2017 National Council election , he was sworn in as a member of the National Council in the 26th legislative period.
